As I sat in my back yard this
weekend, the sun was shining and the cardinals
were chirping in the background. I took a deep
breath and smiled. While I'm happy most days
throughout the year, there's something
particularly happy-making about springtime. Here
in Minnesota, the winters can be long and the days
short.
The world seems fresh and
exciting. People have smiles and we are getting
plenty of sunshine. One of the biggest events
of spring is our first trip to the local
ice cream parlor. Usually, it's full of people and
has a variety of new and old ice cream flavors.
The refreshing taste of a spoonful of ice cream is
a delight.
With all this in mind, this
months' newsletter has some tips to help you
create and find happy times in your own
life. | |

H.A.P.P.Y.
 One of my fellow
collaborators on a couple of projects recently
went through laughter yoga training. Shortly after
she completed her training, we were on a
conference call. At the end, we shared a few
moments of laughter. I could feel tension melting
away. The rest of the day, my mood was even
lighter and more joy filled than usual. And that's
saying a lot.
Later that day, I saw one of my Acronyms
featured in the May issue of Guide Posts, a national
publication with a readership of nearly 7 million
people. I was so excited that I couldn't
wait to tell my wife. So I called the hectic
garden center where she works and shared the news
with her.
I find, even on some of the more
challenging days, if I take a moment to laugh and
play my day goes better and I'm happier about
life. Following are a few tips, in hopes you
will create and enjoy many HAPPY moments of
your own!

Happiness Tips
- Hang around happy
people. I'm a big believer that
who we hang around with will lift us up or drag
us down. Spend time with people who are
happy and who you enjoy being with.
- Think
Solutions. A lot of people,
myself included, get into a funk and look at the
problems. We start thinking about the problem
and focusing on that. The path to happiness lies
in creating solutions, not problems. When we
encounter a problem, there are solutions.
Sometimes we need to talk this out with a caring
individual who accepts us for who we are and
believes in our dreams.
- Date
yourself. Yep. Take yourself out
for something special. When you are overwhelmed
with circumstances or overloaded with work,
treat yourself a whole lot kinder. Some of my
favorite treats are ice cream, massages, and
alone time in nature for renewal.
Eat Ice
Cream. Okay, if you're on
a weight loss program this might not be the best
tip. But there is something about a good scoop
of ice cream to lift your mood. Just don't
overdo it.
